Our Editorial Policy
This page explains how the content on this site is researched, written and kept up to date.
Research
How content is researched
Pages are based on published restoration standards such as the IICRC S500, government guidance from agencies including the EPA, FEMA, OSHA and the California Department of Insurance, and public information about Del Mar from the City of Del Mar, the California Coastal Commission and other sources. Each page lists the sources it relies on.
Local details, such as flood risk near the San Dieguito River or the age of homes in a neighborhood, come from public documents and reporting. Where we could not confirm a detail, we left it out.
Writing
How content is written
All text is written for this site in our own words. We aim for plain language, answer-first paragraphs and practical steps. We do not publish invented statistics, testimonials or claims about specific contractors. Images are illustrative and may be generated; they do not show real jobs.
Updates
Corrections and updates
Health and safety statements, such as how quickly mold can grow or how contaminated water is classified, are taken from the published guidance named on each page. Insurance and legal topics are explained in general terms only, with links to the official sources, because the answer for any one household depends on its policy and documents.
We review pages when standards, regulations or local conditions change, and update the date shown in the page data. If you believe something on the site is wrong, call the number on the site and tell us; we will check it and correct it if needed.
